Our thanks and gratitude goes out to the Stanford Alumni Club of Pasadena, which selected the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena to be among the worldwide venues benefitting from the association’s Global Day of Service on May 18. More than 40 members of the local Stanford Alumni Club pitched in at our Mackenzie-Scott branch, taking on painting, sorting donated books for distribution to other Los Angeles County Clubs, and gardening. In the garden, the volunteers cultivated, fertilized, and mulched 10 planting beds, filling them with bell peppers, hot peppers, corn, strawberries, tomatoes, cantaloupe, watermelons, zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, artichokes, sunflowers, sweet peas, mint, thyme, rosemary, and oregano. They also planted a lemon tree and made other improvements to the garden area, readying it for the summer. We are honored to be chosen for this global “Done in A Day” project.
