Our year-round Aquatics Program offers members, ages 6-18, swimming instruction, free group swim sessions, and the opportunity to participate on a competitive swim team. This popular program illustrates how physical activity can be a fun and fulfilling part of a healthy lifestyle, and also helps participants develop confidence by improving their skills in the water. The objectives of our swim team are to teach our members fair play, good sportsmanship and teamwork, and to instill positive discipline through training and practice sessions.
Note: If thunder or lightening occurs 30 minutes before swim team practice or the first swimming lesson, it is the policy of the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena to cancel those activities for the safety of our members. This policy is recommended by the National Lightening Safety Institute. Because swimming pools are connected to a much larger surface area via underground water pipes, gas lines, electric and telephone wiring, etc., lightning strikes to the ground anywhere on this metallic network may induce shocks elsewhere.
Canceled classes will not be made up due to this being a naturally occurring event

All classes are 30 minutes
Cost: $40 per two-week session

BLUE RAYS SWIM TEAM
The Blue Rays swim team is a competitive training group that emphasizes healthy living, commitment, good sportsmanship, and discipline through the sport of swimming.
Participation on the Blue Rays is open to all Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena members who have some knowledge of swimming in the four competitive strokes (breast stroke, back stroke, butterfly and freestyle), and who complete a swimming assessment.
Team members are expected to attend practice every day unless other arrangements are made with the coach. Members will also be expected to attend swim meets which are usually held once or twice a month on Saturdays.
Team practice covers a series of different training styles to help members become well rounded swimmers and develop the confidence to swim at higher levels in high school and college. Weekly training activities include practice in mid-distance and distance swimming, sprints, and IM (individual medley) strokes to refine stroke technique and build endurance and speed.
The practice styles will be repeated every week for twelve weeks or per quarter. Distances and time standards will increase gradually as swimmers’ capabilities improve. Dedication is required!

Triple Play is a comprehensive health and wellness initiative that strives to improve the overall health of members by increasing their daily physical activity, teaching them good nutrition, and helping them develop healthy relationships. It promotes fitness, positive use of leisure time, skills for stress management, and social skills.
