More than 100 of our members received a pair of new shoes, absolutely free, on March 8—courtesy of the Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids Program. Starting at 8 a.m., the Payless ShoeSource on North Lake Avenue in Pasadena was ready to help our kids select their shoes and redeem their $20 gift cards provided by the company. For many of these kids, who are accustomed to used and hand-me-down shoes, this “purchase” represented their first new pair of shoes.
The Payless Gives Shoes 4 Kids program was launched in 2008 to provide properly fitting shoes to children in need. Today, Payless continues to partner with local nonprofit organizations like ours to help families who struggle to provide their children with basic essentials on a daily basis, and will give away more than $1.5 million in free children’s shoes this year.
