The next generation of Speilbergs, Hitchcocks, and Scorseses were front and center on May 15, when our members premiered their stop-animation shorts for our first ever Film Festival. Organized by our Clay Tech and Logo Tech clubs, the festival featured 11 short films using Claymation and Legos. The festival was the culmination of year-long classes whose goal was not to just teach members how to create movies, but to get them to think about the details and the commitment that is needed for this type of work. Our members learned about creating storyboards, back drops, and crafting the overall plot of a movie. On hand to speak about careers in the field of animation and hand out gifts was Dina Strada of DreamWorks Animation Studios, which hosted a tour for our young filmmakers earlier this year.
