More than 100 of our 6- to 12-year-old Slavik branch members enjoyed a full “Day of Play” on September 20. Our teens played a large part in making the day memorable for our members by creating, demonstrating, and supervising activities such as relay races, freeze dancing, and a unique game dubbed “Capture the Bacon.” They also led our members in warm up exercises before the games.
Not to be outdone, our Mackenzie-Scott branch hosted its own “Day for Kids” on September 13 for more than 120 members. Staff created a carnival in the gym featuring games like basketball toss, ring toss, potato sack races, a ping pong tournament, and a dance central dance-off. Treats and gift bags were also part of the fun. “It was great not only to see our kids having fun with their friends, but to show them how much we appreciate them being a member of the Boys & Girls Club!” said branch director Mario Maytorena.
