Exploring Great Futures

Thirty of our teen members and seven teens from our community partner, the La Pintoresca Teen Center, were given an incredible opportunity to learn about different careers at a special BGCA Teen Summit on November 23 at UCLA. During breakfast, the group mingled with more than 1,000 teens from other Southern California Boys & Girls Clubs and then attended a pep rally in Ackerman Auditorium that featured inspiring talks from UCLA students, representatives from Toyota and NBC, and WWE superstar and MMA fighter Daniel Puder, who spoke about anti-bullying strategies and prevention.

The rest of the day included a lunch provided by Taco Bell, an address by former Los Angeles Lakers star and NBA Hall of Famer A.C. Green, and a myriad of workshops and panel discussions featuring professionals in such fields as sports, finance, retail, entertainment, media, travel, and the auto industry.

“The event was a really great experience and provided our teens with a lot of perspective on careers that will help them plan for a great future,” said Mackenzie-Scott Teen Director Alfred Mendoza.
