Club Staff Presents at S.T.E.M. Forum

Our own Albert Hernandez was among the presenters at a special STEM with STEAM forum organized by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Los Angeles County Alliance this month. Hosted by KABC-TV at their Glendale studios, the forum featured representatives from Virgin Galactic, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, iUrban Teen Tech, the XPrize Foundation along with several Boys & Girls Clubs. Albert, Technology Director at our Slavik branch, apprised the audience of all the great STEM and STEAM programs our Club is running and showed a short video highlighting those programs. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, while STEAM includes an “a” for Arts. Such programming is being offered more frequently in afterschool programs like ours and is intended to engage and excite our youth about careers in these fields and better prepare them for college and the workforce.
