Bounty of Ribbons for the Blue Rays

The Blue Rays emerged victorious from a tri-meet against the La Verne Gators and the Monrovia YMCA this month, bringing home 15 first place ribbons, 10 second place ribbons, and eight third-place ribbons. Twenty-five Blue Rays competed in the match. Among the first place times posted were Kaitlyn Ong, 9, (1 minute 38.84 seconds) and Chloe Ludden, 9, (1 minute 36.94 seconds) in the Girls 100-yard IM, and Joseph Proctor, 9, (1 minute 51.46 seconds) and Jonathan Ong, 11, (1 minute, 28.55 seconds) in the Boys 100-yard IM.

Other notable swims were recorded by Amber Elias, who took first place in the 8-and-under 25-yard backstroke with a time of 25.40 seconds; Jada Hee and Jessica Allen, who went first and second in the girls 11- and 12-year-old 100-yard freestyle (1 minute 23.14 seconds and 1 minute 25.84 seconds, respectively), and Maaso Ortega who posted an impressive time of 1 minute 22.84 seconds in the boys 9- and 10-year-old 100-yard freestyle—the fasted Blue Rays time at the meet.

Our 50-yard freestylers did very well too, recording the following times: Kaitlyn Ong (9) 39.58 seconds, Maaso Ortega (10) 38.55 seconds, Jada Hee (11) 37.27 seconds, Jessica Allen (11) 39.78 seconds, Alonso Fittipaldi (11) 38.37 seconds, and Jonathan Ong (11) 36.90 seconds.

Great job everyone!
