Blue Rays Take in Water Polo Matches at PCC and USC

Our Blue Rays Swim team paid a special visit to Pasadena City College to watch the PCC Lady Lancers take on East Los Angeles College in a water polo match. It was a great opportunity for the team to watch a water sport other than swimming, and what’s more, the Lancers ended up winning the match by a score of 7-3! Following the match, Lancers Head Coach Terry Stoddard introduced himself to our team and answered questions about water polo and swimming. To cap off the visit, he invited the Blue Rays to meet the Lady Lancers—a huge surprise for our kids!  A week after their trip to PCC, the Blue Rays again had the opportunity to watch a college level water polo match, this time traveling to the University of Southern California to watch a men’s game. The Trojans, some of the best water polo players in the country, faced off against the team from Pepperdine University and ended up winning the match 8-2. Following the match, our kids and their families toured the USC campus and talked about what it takes to get a water polo scholarship to a school like USC. Our thanks to USC’s Matt Ackels for making this visit possible.
