The BGCP Blue Rays took on the La Verne Gators at Las Flores Park at their third swim meet of the season, posting some impressive results while doing so. The 16 Blue Rays who swam went home with 16 third place ribbons, 12 second place ribbons, and 11 first place ribbons! What’s more, Aquatics Director James Granados estimated that 90% of his swimmers bettered their times at this meet.
Notable swims were posted by: Jada Hee who took 2nd place in the 100 Individual Medley (ages 9-10) with a time of 1 minute, 44.03 seconds, and Chloe Ludden who took third place with a time of 1 minute, 44.17 seconds. Arthur Vasquez took fourth place in the 100 IM (ages 11-12) with a time of 1 minute, 45.59 seconds, shaving a few seconds off his first IM swim at the YMCA in December. In the 25-yard freestyle for boys, ages 7-8, Cooper Klosterman took first with a time of 23.58 seconds and Ewand Lamond took second place with a time of 24.13 seconds in the first heat. In the second heat, Diego Ortiz was first with a time of 28.56 seconds with Bryan Sanchez close behind with a time of 28.96 seconds for second place.
Another great race was posted Andrew Hee who took first in the 50-yard butterfly (ages 9-10) with a time of 53.59 seconds. The race was neck and neck until the last 10 yards when Andrew pulled away, beating his opponent by a narrow margin of five-tenths of a second. Great job everyone!
