Blue Rays Back in Pool for First Swim Meet of the Year

The Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena Blue Rays took on the El Cariso Dolphins on March 8—the first swim meet for the team since December. And according to Coach James Granados, the past two-and-a-half months of training really paid off for the Rays. “I was really proud of our swimmers attitudes and team unity throughout the competition!” he said. “Plus a big thank you to our parent volunteers and for donating snacks for all of our swimmers after the meet.”

Notable swims included Andrew Hee, who took his first place in the 50-meter freestyle with the time of 54.72 seconds; Jada Hee, who improved tremendously in all four strokes and had a great backstroke swim with the time of 1:04.05; Savannah Ortiz, who took first place in the 50-meter breast stroke with the time of 1:23.24; Gissell Martinez, who took second place in the 50-meter backstroke with a time of 1:05.12; Chris Laron, the newest addition to the Blue Rays swim team and who just completed the swimming lesson program back in December, took third place in the 50-meter freestyle with the time of 49.16 seconds; and Alfonso Henry, who swam a personal best in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 45.05 seconds.
